How come you don't see hair styles like this anymore?

Besides cool hair, the 80s also saw the dawn of Political Correctness. For example, this same episode shows that even aliens with Down's Syndrome can make it into space:

"We look for things to make us go."

I love the 80s (5.00 / 1) (#6)

Not the music or the culture or hairstyles or Down's Syndrome.

There is a club here that has an 80s night every Wednesday and the place gets jam packed with hot girls. For instance: last night a girl put a sticker on my chest that read "Lick my balls", then she grabbed me in the junk.

I don't know what that has to do with the 80s but I appreciate it regardless.

Pain is weakness leaving the body.

1989 (none / 0) (#5)

I graduated in 1989 and when we did senior pictures I had 2 sets done...hair up and hair down.  The hair down is almost typical 80's hair, and hair up was just a simple updo.  The *hair up* pic went in the yearbook.

In '99 when it was our 10 year class reunion (which I didn't go to) they made name badges from those yearbook pictures.  I heard back that a lot of the "girls" that showed up were envious that my picture looked "normal" and not like I needed a neck brace to hold up all the hair spray.

I don't think I'm getting invited (none / 0) (#8)

to my 10-year reunion.  For all I know, it already happened.

I'm still recovering from the emotional trauma of the worst four years of my life.

...I don't remember anything from before I hit 30.

Ah, the joys of recreational pharmaceuticals! :-D

I don't need to remember anything (none / 0) (#10)

from before I turned 25.  You can wipe it all.  But I'd like to hang on to everything that happened from the start of 2002 onward.

I agree with you that memories (5.00 / 1) (#11)
by xxxxxxxxxx on Sat Apr 30, 2005 at 07:23:48 PM GMT

can sometimes be more than you want to remember and can be painful.

My problem is that I don't forget many things, at least not things that have happened..........now, when you talk about little things that I need to remember for work tomorrow, well, they sometimes fade away really fast. :-)

But, for the most part, I remember everything and sometimes I wish I did not.  There is something to said for absent mindedness and the relief it can be to have a bad memory.

That's why I look forward to senility (5.00 / 1) (#12)

Not only do I forget all of those painful memories, but I get to meet new friends every day.

the hair......... (5.00 / 1) (#3)
by xxxxxxxxxx on Thu Apr 28, 2005 at 04:00:15 AM GMT

was not bad, but it got old and besides, go to California and walk down Hollywood Blvd., you will see tons of young women with hair like that it is back in style again.

The 80's for me were good, had good music and I was probably at one of my happiest times then.  At least the early 80's.  Late 80's sucked!!

Aren't you glad they do reruns of Babylon 5 and Star Trek.......you get to see all those things you miss. :-)

Yes, but... (5.00 / 1) (#4)

B5 was a '90's thing. :-)

That tells you time is going way too fast for me when I don't realize the 80's from the 90's.

It's all that time travel I do.........

Wow. (none / 0) (#1)

The alien on the left was played by Christopher Collins, a good and dear friend of mine who died in 1994 of a heart attack. I miss him a great deal, he was one of the funniest guys I ever met in my life. He also played a Klingon starship captain in the Episode where Riker becomes the XO on a Klingon bird of prey. Of equally interesting noteworthyness (is that a word?) is that he was the voice of Cobra Commander, and Starscream on G.I. Joe, and Transformers, respectively. More information on Chris can be found here. It's interesting to note that IMDB incorrectly lists the cause of death as a cerebral hemmorhage.

I had no idea (5.00 / 1) (#2)

either that he was a good friend of yours, or that he had died, or that he was the voice of Starscream. I can hear his voice in my head... he sounded like the (both) lead singer(s) in AC/DC.
