You cannot imagine, (5.00 / 2) (#1)
by xxxxxxxxxx on Sat Apr 16, 2005 at 08:59:24 PM GMT

what I was thinking when I saw this!! PDA......my daughter got what is called a PDA at her school on friday (public display of affection) and will now spend one whole day in ISS (in school suspension).

So when I saw this, I thought, how the frick does he know this??? To my surprise it is something quite different (also to my relief, LOL).

Oh yeah, the PDA my daughter got was for giving her boyfriend a hug as they walked to their busses to go home.  Can you imagine?  I am a bit pissed at the school for this, really stupid to suspend a kid for that, and on a first offense at that.

WTF? (5.00 / 2) (#2)

That's totally messed up.  Did you call the principal and give him a piece of your mind?

I think the public schools jumped the shark about 15 years ago.  I have been suggesting to NerdGirl for a while now that when we have kids we should send them to Catholic schools.  Ironic that the Catholic schools are now *less* restrictive than the pubic schools...

yep, it is (5.00 / 1) (#3)

And yes, I did send the whole teaching team a nice email stating just how I feel about this whole thing.

Her principal has probably not gotten a chance to even deal with this yet as all this happened as they were getting on the bus to go home.  When she does, she knows to call me and we will have a nice chat about how I am truly offended and annoyed with this stupidity!

I have to go on in talk with them about this so I get to verbally say what I want to say, but I wanted to email them so they would be prepared.  I don't want to scare them to death. :-)

I say we nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

You realize Linda's daughter could get expelled from school just for having a mother who chats on a website that talks about "nuking the school," right?

Zero tolerance, dude.  Zero tolerance.

Beef could be right! ;-)

she did not get ISS, just a warning as they discovered that the two were not doing what was reported. (The teacher said they were kissing, a long kiss and all over each other, which was not true, they had witnesses!) she also dragged a couple of other teachers into to it and did this in front of a lot of other students.  To say the least, the kids were totally embarrassed.

Well, I called on monday morning and had a nice, very intelligent chat with the prinicipal.  She felt as I did that it was all handled very inapropriately.  I like this woman, she has some sense about her!

Sometimes there are people in the school systems who have enough intelligence to realize what is right and what isn't.

Which means she won't be principal for very long. Such blatant violations of the Peter Principle are rarely tolerated in as rigid a hierarchy as a pubic school district.

I am so very aware that the system is so screwed up these days where anything to do with State and Federal Government is concerned!!!!  The schools are no exception!
