I tried using SATA once. Hooked up two 160 GB drives. First boot, everything worked like a charm. Transferred all of my MP3s and TV recordings to it - blazing transfer speeds, let me tell you.
Then one day I come home from work, and the whole apartment is just spattered in blood (note: this is before I got married, and I was living alone at the time). There were dead goats hanging from the ceiling, and feces had been smeared all over the bathroom mirror. The computer itself had changed color from beige to a deep red, and every time I touched it, an image of an inverted cross burned itself painfully into my eyes.
That evening I uninstalled the SATA controller and disks, and returned everything back to my trusty old SCSI RAID. Never have had any trouble since then.
