My grandparents live in Bradenton, FL, on the south side of Tampa Bay (the water body, not the city).
|

| Hearing that Frances was coming, on Monday morning they went to the community center (they live in a trailer in some little retirement community) to wait out the weather. Well, of course, it rained and gusted, etc.
Then the wind and rain stopped, and everything got really calm. So they went home.
Well, of course, later that night, the other side of the eye hit them. I'm told that the wind woke them up, sleeping in their little double-wide.
Luckily, they didn't have any damage, and everyone was all right. Grandma claims "God protects the ignorant." Given how long she's lived so far, it must be true.
Lesson: When it suddenly gets really calm after waiting out a hurricane, make sure you're not in the eye. |
