Take the TV money and buy a semi trailer full of used books. Spend whatever is left on the cheapest bourbon you can find. Far more entertainment bang for your buck.

So if I just let the pus flow this will go away on its own? Cool, saves me a $20 co-pay.

it won't "go away."  Your body's supply of chlamydia replenishes itself on its own.

LCD Blows. (none / 0) (#3)

Get Plasma.

you have it reversed.  Plasma blows and it has a short life span.

The only issue with LCD is the limited size.

From what I heard this morning... (none / 0) (#15)

Part of the appeal of Plasma is that the color is made on tiny bubbles, which gives brilliant colors (at least for a while), and is viewable from practically any reasonable angle.  LCD tends to have smaller and/or more expensive size, and the colors get funky when you wander to the side.  But, plasma loses its niceness over time and has burn in problems -- no CNN or video games allowed.

Good ol' NPR...

You want flat???

Go get yourself a multimedia projector and a bucket of white paint.  Good resolution, you can make it HUGE, it won't burn in, and while bulbs are expensive, the whole setup is probably a bit cheaper than any flat screen you care to buy.  And bigger.

Plasma has burn-in problems, and will loose brighness over time in ways that LCD won't.  I'm not saying it's all bad, but I wouldn't watch too much CNN on the thing, or you'll get a nice little stripe along the bottom where the headlines go.

Actually, that makes me wonder whether you'll get a bug (you know, that little thing, usually in the lower left-hand corner, that tells you what channel it is) burned in if you watch one channel too long.

That's all true. I don't typically watch broadcast or cable, mostly I watch movies.

my old school suggestion (none / 0) (#2)
by m0rk on Fri Dec 10, 2004 at 08:33:09 AM GMT

Get a self addressed stamped envelope, and place it in a larger addressed envelope and send it to your favorite electronics manufacturer requesting a catalog. This catalog will be sent back to you in the pre/ postage paid means that you conveniently privided for them.

This will allow you to gaze in wonder at color pictures never before seen prior to the advancements made in catalog printing technology.

This whole process should take about 6-8 weeks depending on your local mail expediency.

Good Luck! Happy Shopping.
