"If you're looking for the goodies, keep on looking cause they stay in the jar...."
"It's gettin hot in here, so take off all your clothes........"
"Locked up, they won't let me out, no they won't let me out"
"Drop it like its hot, drop it like its hot!"
There were lots of others, but I must admit, they were so loud I sort of couldn't make them out! The kids all dance and cheer and jump up and down......and yes, I even saw some grinding going on, although they broke that up really fast whenever they saw it! I tend to chaperone from a distance and let Parks and Rec take care of the problems. :-)
Mostly......I just kept thinking to myself.....Yes I understand the lyrics....."Locked up, they won't let me out!".
It reminds me of the 70's and 80's when music took this turn for Punk and New Wave........not much Rock going on actually, just mostly Rap and something akin to Punk/New Wave. Not sure how to categorize it, but its not bad to listen to.
And, what is 'KORN'? One kid, with long blonde hair and really baggy, faded jeans kept yelling, 'play some KORN!'.....he seemed to be the only one who wanted to hear that. I have no clue what KORN is like.
'1985' is another popular song for this crowd....reminds me of David Bowie's '1984' in a way. What is it they say, trends repeat themselves about every 25-30 years, I think that is true. Just from the fashion and the music I would say it is about right on track.
All in all, I am not upset with music...not even the song lyrics.......hell we had worse in some cases in my youth and actually not as creatively referenced as in 'Goodies'. However, I still miss stuff like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, even though I don't listen to it much at all, it just seems appropriate for nights like last night and the kids today don't even know who Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd is. But......times change, people change, music changes......so I am not sad, just reminiscent.
