I just logged onto the net and heard some sad news. Stand-up comedian and film star Rodney Dangerfield was announced dead by his publicist. No other details are available. Even if you didn't appreciate Caddyshack there's no denying his effect on popular culture. TRULY a comedic icon

He had a heart valve replaced on August 25. Following the operation, he had a stroke, then developed "infectious and abdominal complications from which he did not recover". He had been in a coma for a while following the surgery, but in this past week, he emerged from it for a while, kissed his wife, squeezed her hand, and smiled at the doctors.

I loved Dangerfield for his down on the luck, no holds barred comedy. He could be as brash and lude as the rest of the comedians around today, but he was funny long before they were.

A lot of people didn't know that Rodney suffered for years with chronic depression and it has just been in the last 15 years or later that he was diagnosed and took meds for it and he began to really enjoy his life.

He lived a long time though and I hope to be able to leave this world at the ripe old age of 82 or so!

Ok, so I'll admit it. I am ashamed of myself. But from time to time, I will break out some old Journey.

It's kinda funny how when that song comes on, the first word out of everyone's mouth is "Caddyshack!"

Truly an American icon.

...but why is this movie so revered by so many people? I mean, I'm not saying it's a bad movie. It's very amusing. But some people just take praising it to an extreme.

Same thing with Family Guy. Yeah, it's funny, but it's not the second coming of TV. It's not like it's The Simpsons or anything.

No accounting for taste, I suppose.
