One point............ (none / 0) (#1)

death is not the most depressing thing in the world if you look at it from a normal, human experience.

Sometimes it is like celebrating the life of the person who has gone, giving them thier propz so to speak of a life well done and credit for their talents and endeavors to add to our world.

Personally, I don't fear death anymore, nor do I find is to so much to be an ending but a beginning of something different and a part of this experience we call life.  We might lose our material body, but our spirit and our memory and our soul live on......through others and what we leave behind.  Is that really so sad???

Blame my attitude on age, having experienced the loss of many people who meant the world to me, or just having the wisdom to accept something that is inevitable and not feeling it is something horrible, but part of the process of life.

Now, about those puppies.......;-)

this girl did not die.

I believe in an eternal life to come in which all good things are restored to their original wonder, and there will be no dying or decay or sadness.

If I didn't, I sure as heck wouldn't be sitting in a cubicle 40-50 hours/week. I'd be hitchhiking across Europe, or living on a house-boat in some Third-World tropical paradise, accomplishing nothing useful whatsoever.

The fact that this life is not the end, and this world is not our home, allows me to put up with all the BS that life throws at us day-in, day-out.

of reason and blind hope.

Both are necessary for faith.

Ah, but what about........... (none / 0) (#3)

Making the most of this life and being happy and trying to make a difference?

I truly believe that we are here to try and make a difference, whether you are religious or not, I think you can understand that concept.  We shouldn't go by things like "Life isn't Fair, get used to it!".  It is true, but I think we owe to ourselves and those around us to try and change that.  We should try and make things as fair as possible so that things have a possibility of getting better.

If we think that things will much better once this life is over, then we forget to enjoy why we are here and what our gift is.  Life is a gift, it can be hard, oh very true, but it can also be beautiful, you just have to start at looking at thing from both sides and seeing it from all angles instead of just one.  Life is much like a gemstone, it doesn't really shine until you get the angles just right, then you see this awesome sparkle that makes it so lovely to look at.

All of it is a learning experience, from whatever reason or religion or philosophy you subscribe to in that we should take this gift of life and make it work for us and for others, so that as the generations move ahead, they move in a brighter, more peaceful environment.

I don't mean everything is always rosy and we have nothing to worry about, that is just not rational, we have plenty to worry about and problems galore to contend with, it is all in how you approach it and how you decide to deal with each day that makes the difference!

And for people like you and me who believe in a higher power, well, we will continue to learn long after we leave this earthbound body, only in a different way and on a different level.
