Weblogging (Blogging):
Blog+++ My blog is THE window into my mind, my life, myself as a person. To read my blog is to know me. I have a live webcam image embedded into my blog, which is always on. It almost always shows me sitting at my computer. Blogging. My friends all participate in the discussion threads. I am thinking about writing my own blog engine, except that I'm too busy blogging to learn PHP or ASP.
Blog++ My blog is my main communication channel to the world. The latest events of my life, my thoughts and dreams, cool links and news stories, updates on my family and pets, all are chronicled on my blog, which is updated at least once a day.
Blog+ I have a blog, and I update it at least once a week.
Blog I have a blog. I update it now and then, when I remember to.
Blog- I do not have a blog. It's kinda vain, and a waste of time, in my opinion.
Blog-- I don't care about the opinions of random strangers, and don't expect anyone to care about mine. Blogging is stupid.
Instant Messaging:
IM+++ IM is my life. I've dated, married, divorced, even had children on IM. I carry a wireless, one-handed keyboard with me so that I can keep IMing while I make dinner, take showers, and use the toilet. All msgs forward to my cell when I'm away from my computer (which is not often), so if you IM me and I don't respond within 5 minutes, you should probably call 911.
IM++ I love IM. I'm always logged in on AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, and MSN. IMing me is the best way to reach me.
IM+ I like IM, and try to stay logged in whenever I'm at my computer.
IM I have used IM, and I'm fairly indifferent to it.
IM- What good is instant messaging? That's what email is for. IMing distracts me from work/studying/social life. I'd rather do without it.
IM-- You'll never see me install one of those things on my computer. If you want to have a conversation with me, call me on the phone or talk to me face-to-face. IM is impersonal and creepy.
IM--- Instant Messaging is the end of humanity as we know it. We're on the path to becoming the Borg.
Slashdot:
/.++++ I am Rob Malda
/.+++ I am a legendary poster with a three-digit UID, 50000 comments, 150 friends. My desktop has an applet that lets me know when a new story or poll appears. Other /.ers get freaked out that I've died on them if I go more than 18 hours between posts. My entire wardrobe is from Thinkgeek.
/.++ Slashdot is great! I'm there just about every day, participate in discussions regularly, get mod points all the time which I use to make sure the quality of discussions is top-notch, and I have a long list of friends and fans. It's the best geek site on the Net! Down with M$ and SCO!
/.+ Slashdot is a good source of information and geek "brain candy." I visit fairly regularly, and sometimes post in discussions.
/. Slashdot is ok. I read it now and then when I'm bored.
/.- I try to avoid Slashdot. Too many trolls and Linux zealots for my taste. I'll go there when someone points me to an interesting story or link, but that's about it.
/.-- Slashdot sucks. There aren't any stories there that I haven't seen on the Register, New Scientist, ZDNet, Salon.com, or Google News three days earlier. The discussions are one-sided, pro-Linux, anti-Microsoft groupthink. The moderation system ensures that any interesting or dissenting opinions are blasted into oblivion. I avoid it like the plague.
/.--- I have an active hatred of Slashdot and try my best to bring it down through trolling, crapflooding, and moderation/metamoderation abuse. Most of the links I post in comments are likely to be goatsex.
/.---- I am Rusty Foster.
