I tried this and can testify that it is a great workout. But you have to build yourself up to it over time.

For Those Of Us Getting On in Years (And Weight) I started by standing outside behind the house and, with a 5 pound potato sack in each hand, extending my arms straight out to my sides and holding them there as long as I could.

After a few weeks I moved up to 10 pound potato sacks, then 50 pound potato sacks, and finally I got to where I could lift a 100 pound potato sack in each hand and hold my arms straight out for more than a full minute!

Next, I started putting a few potatoes in the sacks, but I would caution you not to overdo it at this level.

I must say I'm a little bit surprised at the lack of comments about cock-up-the-ass type exercise. Has sru gone tame?

like, instead of "behind the house", my mind registered "behind the horse", which is mildly more disturbing... I just wasn't sure how the potatos fit with the horse and you being behind the horse...

damn my head hurts...

damnit, I'm going to bed now.

ack!

When my fist clenches, crack it open, before I use it and lose my cool...
