First of all, I drive from Virginia to Chicago. Going through the mountains and traveling mostly on the turnpike. Can we say the tolls from hell highway? However, with the weather being what it was, I figured it better to travel that direction where there are better stops and hotels easier to find than if I traveled my usual backroads and the such. It snowed the whole time I was driving, 14 and one half hours of snow.
I did make it though! It was fun! My car is covered in salt and chemicals used to make the road easier and safer to travel on, but there are no dings, dented bumpers, or broken glass.
After consuming 6, 20 oz. Mountain Dews, 2 cups of coffee and one YooHoo, I managed to pull into the driveway and get out, in one piece mind you, having to pee really bad, but still in one piece.
You either really have to love to travel or you have a really good reason to do that sort of thing this time of year. I had both.
Its true, I love to travel, and I drive long distances because I like having the luxury of being able to pick up and go wherever, whenever and not be inhibited by flight schedules and rental cars. I can detour off the original route and see what I want to see.
Its also true that I am totally in love with my grandson who is absolutely adorable and just the most precious thing you have ever seen!! :-)
And yes, that was my whole reason for coming out here....to see that little guy and spoil him for a while.
And Yeah, yeah, I know, she is being sentimental, totally mushy and very 'grandmotherish' but you know what......I don't care, because right now, that is just how I feel and this is one of the most wonderful things I have had a chance to experience. So sue me!
