Political Correctness.......... (none / 0) (#2)

is sometimes highly overrated! ;-)

I do all the graphics for the invitations and programs for my high school class reunions and since we were there, the mascot and the name has changed totally of the teams.

Back when I was a student there, we were called 'The Rebels', well later it became the 'Lions' because rebels has a bad connection to civil war and slavery and we are, you guessed it, in the SOUTH!

Not that I really care that they changed it, I just always thought it would be so cool if the band played Billy Idols 'With a Rebel Yell!'  However seeing as that is not allowed, I guess 'In the Jungle' is what we have.

In making the invitations, I have a lion and some neat things, but no rebels (or flags either!) and I am trying very hard to make it say 'welcome home' but it isn't the same.  We were not the Lions........we were the REBELS!

I understand why we can't, but it is still annoying.  Rebel to me never meant........South, it meant like James Dean.......rebel without a cause, that sort of thing.  Ah well, can't have everything.
