I'm sick to death of the the pansy-assed liberals/Democrats tripping over themselves when Bush commits a gaffe in a speech.

C'mon, it's times like this when I wonder if they really have a leg to stand on as far as policy goes.  Quit wasting my time over this meaningless nonsense.  Not to mention childish.

I don't think that I fall in to the category of "pansy-ass liberal".  I am just an American citizan who wishes that the President of the USA were just a little more articulate and didn't sound like a backwater schlub.

Hell, if the man can't accomplish that on his own, he DOES have a whole team of speechwriters that can help him along!

This is no different than any of the commentaries on other politicians' "misspeaks"... thing Quayle, Dole, Gore, etc...(and those are just the recent ones).

More alternation (5.00 / 1) (#10)

I think the majority of the people I meet on a daily basis have more grammar problems and questionable semantics than any recent politician.

Which makes me think about whether these 'isms aren't really part of a carefully cultivated image. Bush can certainly come off as dumb as a rock and everyone believes it is true, but if really is that dumb and ascended to one of the most powerful public offices in the world the rest of us must be some kind of incomprehensible galactical dumb no one has yet figured out how to measure.

Reagan thought it all up one night while drinking Bourbon with Satan.

Have you ever seen the movie, "My Fellow Americans"? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117119/)  It illustrates this point very well.

(It's also a very funny movie! ...but that's besides the point.)

an even older movie and very funny, "Being There" with Peter Sellers.

I cried I laughed so hard at that movie.  It makes you realize that what a person says is all about in the ones that hear what is said, not actually what is said.  It is called perception and frankly, if you want to believe something, well, you will and so will others if you are convincing enough.

Politicians have long been nothing more than actors, who front for people who have big interest in the way the country is run.  There are no more Abraham Lincolns and Thomas Jeffersons or even Harry Trumans!!

Lets face it people, its money, power and as most people know, power is one of the biggest aphrodisiacs there is.  If you doubt that, look at Clinton and Monica.

I highly recommend any Peter Sellers movie (5.00 / 1) (#13)

With the possible exception of the last two Pink Panther movies.

Talk about a comic genius.

Natuhally, dey vould breed prodigiously, eh? Dere vould be much time, und little to do. But, ah, vith die proper breeding techniques und a ratio of say, ten females to each male, I vould guess dat dey could den verk deir vay back to die present gross national product vithin say, tventy years.
