Ha! (5.00 / 1) (#3)
by xxxxxxxxxx on Sat Jul 31, 2004 at 02:24:38 PM GMT

Virginia is almost equally split and moving towards Kerry every day!  This makes me very happy considering that Va. was a strong Bush state in the beginning.

I am voting for Kerry more because of John Edwards.  He is a really who I wanted to run for President on the Dem. ticket but Kerry got it.  At least Kerry had the good sense to choose Edwards as his running mate, I think that has made his campaign a lot stronger. :-)

My philosophy is "if you don't vote, you don't get to complain"!  Get out there and make a difference!

I understand this "if you don't vote, you don't get to complain" philosophy.

However, I would argue that it might be more responsible not to vote in a race where one doesn't know anything about the candidates, issues, etc.  This tends to apply more to state and local campaigns than national ones, of course.  You shouldn't cancel out a well-meaning person's vote with your uninformed one, and you may wind up voting a person into office who turns out to be utterly counter to you in your stance on the issues.  Just my $0.02.

Can I complain if I don't like my choices?

Is there an excuse for not being informed? The info is out there, if you care to read it.

unfortunately, when was the last time you saw information on who was running for clerk of deeds?  Do the candidates have websites, even if you find out that they're running beforehand?

Most of the time, the information is available on the web. As a deputy voter registrar, and an election judge (who is considering running for precinct commitimam this year), I can tell you for certain that you DO have information available, even if you have to dig for it.

The truth is out there...
